About Gail Whitmore
Born in Glasgow and raised in New York City, Gail has
been working first as a volunteer and then as a professional in counseling
and crisis intervention for over fifteen years.
After completing her studies in Voice, Musicology and Languages
at the University of Michigan, Gail volunteered for the Memorial
Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. After two years she trained in counseling,
grief and palliative care at the Jacob
Perlow Hospice at Beth Israel Medical Center.
Following that, Gail was trained in crisis prevention and intervention
by Covenant House and went on to work for their Nineline, the largest
crisis hotline in the United States.
Gail also conducted a recreational discussion group for
the Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter encouraging program members
to
share their loves of and perspectives on the music that had helped
shape their lives.
Gail provides general support for individuals and couples. She specializes
in the following areas - depression, suicide,
self-injury, relationship concerns, eating disorders,
sexual assault and domestic violence.
Gail has been living in Prague for five years, actively gives
workshops in the Czech school system on domestic violence and incest
and is a former member of the Supervisory Board of the Liga
lidských práv
(League of Human Rights).
Conversant in Czech, Spanish, German and French, services are currently
offered only in English and Italian.
